Amman Vision Investment and Development, the investment arm of the Greater Amman Municipality, and Black Iris Real Estate Management announced on Thursday the Black Iris Project / Amman, located within the investment strip on the Abdoun Corridor, in the presence of the Mayor of Amman and Chairman of the Board of Amman Vision, Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the Minister of Investment, Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, and the Swiss Ambassador, Emilia Georgieva.
The project occupies three plots of land with a combined area of 43,062 square metres and development rights of up to 260,000 square metres of built-up area.
The Mayor of Amman said the project is a distinctive one and represents an addition to the city of Amman, and that its launch confirms the safe and attractive investment environment in Jordan and that the Jordanian economy is stable and enduring.
He affirmed that all of Amman Vision's projects are proceeding and all its contracts are in force, revealing that the company currently has 17 projects on the ground and 16 projects under design or licensing.
Al-Shawarbeh praised the existing partnership between Amman Vision and the private sector, saying: "Our approach to this partnership is based on combining public funds, through the Municipality's assets, with private sector capital to deliver genuine investment projects that serve the national economy, investment and employment."
The project, which will provide 3,000 job opportunities at a total cost of JOD 570 million, will be implemented across three plots: the first a residential tower with commercial and leisure facilities covering 20,755 square metres; the second a hotel tower with tourism facilities covering 11,396 square metres; and the third a business tower and corporate headquarters covering 10,911 square metres.
The project official from Black Iris, Reinhold Skiman, said
that the works will include establishing a vertical farming project to produce vegetables and fruit, in addition to a high-capacity car park and a large hall seating 2,000 that can be relocated.
For his part, the Director General of Amman Vision, Eng. Mustafa Abu Ghoush, noted that Amman Vision, the investment arm of the Greater Amman Municipality, is the principal developer of the land and investment rights owned by the Municipality, and offers many investment opportunities in land, assets and investment rights to investors wishing to deliver successful and viable projects and contribute to the advancement of Amman and the Kingdom.
Former MP and lawyer Qais Zayadin, speaking on behalf of Tamimi & Company, legal advisers to the Swiss company, praised the role of the Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Investment in attracting investment projects.
Eng. Shadi Abdulsalam of Investors Union Engineering gave an introductory overview of the project and its objectives.
The investment strip on the Abdoun Corridor is considered a vital investment location on Amman's arterial road network, connected to the commercial, historical and social hub of the capital's centre.
The project represents an addition to mixed-use commercial and real estate urban development on sound planning and design foundations, serving to create a vibrant destination for the city of Amman and a distinctive landmark at one of its main gateways along the Abdoun Corridor, creatively echoing the city's development vision and contributing to an urban renaissance and a stimulus for local economic empowerment.
The announcement was attended by a number of members of the Municipality Council and board members of Black Iris Real Estate Management, the City Manager of Amman, Eng. Ahmad Al-Malkawi, and his deputies, businessman Ziad Al-Manaseer, Michel Al-Sayegh, Basel Marji and others.
